Treats That Give - Maggie's Cancer Centre & Kirsty's Journey

A PERSONAL STORY & A POWERFUL REASON

This coming Monday, we're launching a special charity event here at Bodhi & The Birchtree.

But first, we want to share a story. One that's incredibly close to our hearts. In July last year, our lovely friend Kirsty was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer - pseudomyxoma peritonei, or appendix cancer. It had silently spread across her abdominal organs. It's classed as stage 4. It was life-threatening.

To try and stop it, she underwent what doctors call "the mother of all surgeries."

  • 16.5 hours on the operating table
  • 7 full organs removed
  • 3 more partially removed
  • HIPEC chemo, directly into her abdomen
  • Weeks in intensive care

It was brutal. But it was her only option. After surviving the unimaginable, Kirsty needed something more than medicine. She needed to begin rebuilding her life, her identity, her strength.

That's when she walked through the doors of Maggies Dundee. A place she once volunteered at-now walking in as someone who needed their support. She described it as "emotional, overwhelming-but instantly comforting." At Maggie's, Kirsty could breathe. She talked about her experience for the first time. She found people who got it. She was gently guided toward support groups and safe spaces. Sometimes, she just sits in the centre for a chat. No pressure. No expectations. Just care. Just calm.

"I never imagined living life with cancer at 34. But here I am. And Maggie's has helped make the burden lighter. They've been part of piecing me back together."

We're holding a special 2-day charity event to raise money for Maggie's in honour of Kirsty's journey.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

• Use Archie's special limited time code for 10% off your order

For every order that uses Archie's code, we'll donate a percentage of your purchase to Maggies Dundee

• You'll get free human & dog treats with every order that uses Archie's code. Anco have very kindly supplied us with lots of cases of Pate just for this event!

PLUS: Kirsty has handpicked a box of her dog

Archie's favourite treats - 100% of profits from this box will go to Maggie's

Cancer changes everything. Support changes everything too. Let's treat our dogs-and help others feel less alone. Full details launching Monday morning.

Every treat you buy using Archie's code this Monday-Wednesday isn't just a snack-it's a statement of hope.

This isn't "business as usual." It's our way of giving back to the charity that helped her piece her life back together after the "mother of all surgeries," and showed her-just as she once showed others-the power of community and compassion.

Plus, every order with the code comes with a little bundle of human treats and a handful of dog goodies donated by our Business friends locally-and you can even choose Archie's Favourite Treat Box, where 100% of proceeds go straight to Maggie's.

By treating your pup (and yourself), you're lighting up someone's day—and you're lifting a weight from the shoulders of anyone facing cancer. That's the true joy behind every bite.

Thank you for helping us turn treats into tangible hope!
